Alchemist

Be alive when the match ends. Treat has unlimited uses: shield one player from one attack and cure Nightshade Poison, with no consecutive target and one self-treatment. Twice, poison any other living player during discussion; one dose per day, fatal at the second following dawn unless treated.

A RUMOUR AT COURT

Two bottles, one reassuring smile. The court never quite knows which remedy it has been offered.

THE ART OF PLAYING YOUR PART

How to play Alchemist

You are a Neutral survivor with unlimited nighttime Treat and two daytime doses of Nightshade Poison. You win if you are alive when the match concludes, whoever brings it to an end. You do not need to kill anyone or defeat either main faction.

YOUR OPENING MOVE

Build useful relationships. Offer treatment to someone who can keep you alive, then decide whether a credible threat warrants spending a poison dose.

FROM THE LIVE GAME RULES

Your abilities

01

NIGHT ABILITY

Treat

No charge limit

Shield one player from one basic attack and cure their Nightshade Poison. Treatment must arrive; jail or detention can prevent it.

  • Cannot target the same player on consecutive nights.
  • Self-treatment is available only once.
02

DAY ABILITY

Nightshade Poison

2 charges

Poison another player during discussion. They die at the second following dawn unless a Physician or Alchemist treats them. Two uses, at most once per day. Repeated doses do not stack or restart an active toxin.

  • Two doses, at most one during each discussion day. A Day 2 dose is fatal at dawn on Day 4 unless Treat arrives during either upcoming night.
  • Victim-only skull countdown; Physician or Alchemist Treat cures it. Repeat doses spend a use without stacking or restarting the toxin.

Charge counts and ability text come from the game itself. “No charge limit” does not remove timing, targeting, or other restrictions.

A LITTLE WISDOM GOES A LONG WAY

At the table

  1. 01

Treat absorbs one basic attack and cures Nightshade from either an Assassin or another Alchemist. It has unlimited uses, but you can treat yourself only once and cannot treat the same person on consecutive nights.

  2. 02

Use Nightshade during discussion on any other living eligible player, at most once per day. Its two doses are separate from your night action.

  3. 03

A dose on Day 2 kills at dawn on Day 4 unless Treat reaches the victim during Night 3 or Night 4. Ordinary shields do not cure it. Re-poisoning spends a dose without extending or stacking an existing countdown.

  4. 04

You can win alongside either main faction, a victorious Neutral killer or an executed Martyr. You also win a drawn court if you are still alive.

  5. 05

In AI courts, an Alchemist weighs public threats and believable treatment requests rather than automatically backing Innocents. Clear claims help communication but do not prove anyone is truthful.

Mind the trap.

  • Neutral defensive is your playstyle, not passive armour. You can still be killed, poisoned or executed.
  • A jailed target cannot receive your treatment, and detention prevents your own night treatment from resolving. Jail does not pause poison already in the body.
  • Your poison survives your death, but a dead Alchemist loses. A toxin still pending does not postpone an otherwise valid match ending.
  • Poisoning a helpful courtier can turn the whole court against you. You are not counted as a hostile Neutral killer that the main factions must eliminate.
  • The skull countdown never identifies who poisoned its victim. An Archivist can later learn the source class after a toxin death.

WHEN YOU FACE THIS CLASS

Counterplay

  1. 01

Accept useful healing without assuming faction loyalty. A survival promise is a claim, not immunity.

  2. 02

If poisoned, ask for Treat and state your fatal dawn clearly. Either healing class can cure you.

  3. 03

Ending the match with the Alchemist alive gives them a shared survival win; you do not need to kill them to secure a main-faction victory.
