Warden
Imprison another player immediately, preventing their non-control action and all incoming visits, with an anonymous private interview. Detain has unlimited uses, but each body can be jailed only once per match.
YOUR WIN CONDITION
Eliminate every Cult member and hostile Neutral while an Innocent survives. Executing the Martyr makes your faction lose.
THE ART OF PLAYING YOUR PART
How to play Warden
Detain opens a private night conversation with one prisoner and isolates that body. The prisoner loses its outgoing non-control action, and incoming visits cannot reach it: attacks, protection, investigation, recruitment and possession are all stopped.
Choose deliberately. Opening the cell immediately commits your one night action; you cannot switch the prisoner, change powers or pass afterward.
FROM THE LIVE GAME RULES
Your abilities
NIGHT ABILITY
Detain
Commit immediately to jail a player: block non-control actions and all incoming visits, and open an anonymous private interview. Unlimited uses; each body can be jailed only once per match, across all Wardens.
- Cannot target the same player on consecutive nights.
Charge counts and ability text come from the game itself. “No charge limit” does not remove timing, targeting, or other restrictions.
YOUR CLASS ACHIEVEMENT
A name to earn.
Warden
Behind Iron Doors
Title: The Iron Keeper
Resolve 25 successful detentions as Warden across completed matches.
No passive bonus. Your title changes no match powers.
A LITTLE WISDOM GOES A LONG WAY
At the table
- 01
Ask for a dated claim and compare it with tomorrow’s public evidence. The prisoner sees an anonymous Warden, not your seat or account identity.
- 02
Detention can shelter someone from harm, but also suppress their useful action and deny helpful visitors.
- 03
A jailed Cult member cannot send or receive new Cult chat that night; its conversation is with the Warden alone.
- 04
An already opened jail persists if its Warden is later jailed, but that Warden’s original interview is suspended; it can speak only as a prisoner in its own cell. A Warden who is already a prisoner cannot start a new jail.
- 05
In v0.7 and later courts, Detain has unlimited uses, but a body can be successfully jailed only once in the entire match. Choose when that one protective or suppressive night matters most; the accepted action still commits your one night choice immediately.
Mind the trap.
- You cannot target yourself or repeat a committed target on consecutive nights. A failed committed attempt creates no permanent immunity, but still retains that existing one-night repeat restriction. After a successful jail, that public character/body is immune to every Warden for the rest of the match. This stays with the body if the Shade later possesses it; the Shade does not carry immunity to a different body.
- The first accepted jail owns its prisoner. A same-night attempt on that already jailed body still commits the choice and returns a generic prevented result, without opening another cell. On later nights, successfully jailed bodies are excluded from Detain targets. Rejected or unsuccessful attempts do not give a body immunity.
- Persisted courts created before the v0.7 rule retain their original finite charges and repeat-target rule; new courts use unlimited Detain and once-per-body immunity.
- There is no jail execution power. Private accusations are claims, not a verdict or faction test.
- Jailing an intended victim also stops an incoming Shade possession. Jailing the Shade prevents its outgoing possession.
- A prisoner is unavailable to other Seers while detained. Detention is stronger isolation than a normal attack shield.
WHEN YOU FACE THIS CLASS
Counterplay
- 01
A jailed attacker is stopped, but may invent a plausible harmless claim. Evaluate the next day’s evidence rather than treating silence as guilt.
- 02
An Innocent prisoner should explain what their interrupted action could have established. The Warden may be using the cell as protection. Once released, that body cannot be jailed again in a v0.7 or later court, so plan future protection without relying on the same cell.
- 03
Keep the interrogation about game claims, visits and votes; the anonymous role label authenticates the channel, not the truth of either player’s words.
