The Diplomat
While alive, see both fixed target seats executed through guilty trials to secure a shared win. Forge one public Rumor each day, hidden from the impersonated player. Twice, use Court Whisperer at night to conceal your whisper traffic and intercept other whispers the following day.
YOUR WIN CONDITION
While alive, see both assigned target seats executed through guilty trials. Other deaths and Royal Execution do not count; targets are never replaced.
A RUMOUR AT COURT
Black velvet, silver promises and a smile that never quite reaches the scroll. The Diplomat brings no blade to court; he prefers the court to supply one.
THE ART OF PLAYING YOUR PART
How to play The Diplomat
You are a Neutral with two different fixed target seats, neither your own. Have both executed through guilty trials while you are alive. Completing both secures a shared victory, even if you die later; it does not end the match.
Read your two private target numbers before choosing a story. Learn their claims, keep them alive until trial, and find allies whose suspicions already point in a useful direction.
FROM THE LIVE GAME RULES
Your abilities
DAY ABILITY
Rumor
Once per daytime discussion, publish a forged public message attributed to another living seat. That player does not receive it. Claims remain unverified.
- Unlimited total uses, at most one accepted forgery per discussion day. Choose another living seat and write 1–280 characters.
- The public message uses that seat’s visible identity, but the impersonated participant never receives the forgery. Trial, verdict, aftermath and night are closed.
NIGHT ABILITY
Court Whisperer
Prepare secret correspondence tonight. During the following daytime discussion, whispers to or from you have no public notice, and you intercept other players’ whispers. Two uses; detention prevents the effect.
- Two charges. This is a self-targeted night preparation; detention prevents it.
- On the following discussion day, incoming and outgoing whispers have no public exchange notice. Other whispers sent in that window are privately intercepted, including concealed exchanges.
- Captured messages remain private history. Earlier and later days are not unlocked, and death stops new interception.
Charge counts and ability text come from the game itself. “No charge limit” does not remove timing, targeting, or other restrictions.
YOUR CLASS ACHIEVEMENT
A name to earn.
The Diplomat
Two Names on the Scroll
Title: The Silver-Tongued
Win 5 completed matches as The Diplomat after securing both assigned trial executions. Cosmetic title only.
No passive bonus. Your title changes no match powers.
A LITTLE WISDOM GOES A LONG WAY
At the table
- 01
Rumor is available once during each daytime discussion, with no total charge limit. Select another living seat and write a public message of up to 280 characters. It appears under that seat’s public name, portrait and title; the impersonated participant does not receive the message themselves.
- 02
A forged class claim or accusation can create doubt, but an obvious or implausible story can discredit the manipulation. Rumor does not forge verified public events, private reports or the execution record.
- 03
Court Whisperer has two charges. Prepare it at night; after a successful resolution, whispers to or from you have no public occurrence notice during the following daytime discussion. You also see the contents of other whispers sent in that window, including exchanges concealed by another Diplomat.
- 04
Use captured words to negotiate or compare claims. Intercepted messages are labelled in your own view; they are still player statements and may be lies.
- 05
Your target numbers refer to fixed public seats/bodies. If a Shade moves between bodies, the objective stays with the original numbered seats. A successful trial execution of the required body is what counts.
- 06
After both target executions are secured, you can still influence the court. You may share the eventual ending with any qualifying faction or Neutral; leaving early still forfeits rewards.
Mind the trap.
- Royal Execution, night attacks, poison, possession and departure deaths do not count. There are no replacement targets and no survival fallback: if a target dies another way before its qualifying execution, this objective cannot be completed.
- You must be alive when each qualifying target is executed. A win already secured remains secured after a later death.
- Rumor and ordinary whispers are closed during defence, trial voting and execution/aftermath. You cannot use Rumor to impersonate a dead seat or yourself.
- Detention blocks Court Whisperer. A spent or blocked night preparation cannot reveal whispers from earlier days; death stops new interception. Previously captured messages remain in your private history.
- An executed Martyr ends the match immediately. If the Martyr is your second target, your already-completed trial objective can share that ending; if only the first, there is no further trial opportunity.
- Concealment hides the exchange notice, not the contents from another active Court Whisperer. Other players can repeat, screenshot or misrepresent private messages.
WHEN YOU FACE THIS CLASS
Counterplay
- 01
Treat dramatic public claims as statements to verify, especially if the apparent author denies seeing them. Ask for a fresh explanation and compare independent evidence.
- 02
The public record of deaths, trials and verified events is separate from chat and cannot be rewritten by Rumor.
- 03
Do not assume that absence of a whisper notice proves no private exchange took place, or that private chat is immune from a class ability.
- 04
Jailing or eliminating a suspected Diplomat can stop future preparations and interference, but does not undo a shared win already secured.
